May I Trade my Elephant for a Mouse?

I'm tired of this blogject, and I'm feeling overwhelmed.  I'm tired of men, and I need more coffee.
My friend asks me last night, "how do you eat an elephant?"  She smiles, looks at me, and replies, "one bite at time."  I don't like elephant.
Seemingly everyday since I began I'm learning men need more and more from us.  Yet I have heard nothing about what men need to do for their wives.  I've grown tired of this game.  I don't want to play anymore.
I don't like elephant.
I'm not giving up, I am complaining.  I said something in reference to women having to do so much for men last night to my husband.  I followed with explaining, obviously I care and plan to act upon what I've learned otherwise it wouldn't bother me so much.
I topped my compaint cake with, "and women aren't even guaranteed their husbands will respond in a loving, endearing, cherishing way.  So why do we have to work so hard?"
I want to trade my elephant for a mouse, please.
I don't like elephant.

  1. Hey sweet pea, wanna know something really awesome? A lot has been said about Ephesians 5:22 and wives submitting themselves to their husbands as unto the Lord. Not so much is spoken about the instructions to husbands, of which there are...love your wives as Christ loved the church (Eph 5:25) love your wives as your own bodies (eph 5:28) love your wives as you love yourself (eph 5:33) love your wives and be not bitter against them (col 3:19) Give honor unto your wife, so your prayers will not be hindered...I mean, loving your wife as Christ loved the Church?? Holy cats! That's one tall order!! Men are told by the bible to do and be an awful lot for their wives. And trust me, Matt and I have slung ephesians 5:22 and 5:25 back and forth at each other before! lol!! But I really truly believe that when you simply do what you are called to do, God will honor it. And here's a very important thing to remember: You are not doing, and must not do this simply to get a desired response from Dan. That cannot be your motivation. Do these things, because it is how Christ would have you be...do it, out of love for Jesus, and not simply to change your husband. Because if you do it only for that, you will continue to be frustrated due to the "unfairness" of it all. But if you do these things because you love God and want to love and serve HIM, then you will have a different perspective on things! =)

Truthfully, I have felt the exact same way as you do, plenty of times, and it still creeps in from time to time! I have to keep reminding myself of the things of which I just reminded you!!

By the way, I prefer my elephant with some dijon mustard. Hides the Gamey taste. ;)
